Threadgill’s was a true piece of Austin history, beginning as a Gulf filling station and beer joint in 1933 before becoming a legendary destination for Southern food and live music. The North Lamar location helped nurture Austin’s early music scene, famously giving a young Janis Joplin a place to perform before her rise to fame. This hand-drawn illustration celebrates the weathered signage, roadside character, and history packed into this beloved Austin institution. Though Threadgill’s closed for good in 2020, its legacy remains woven into the city. This Austin art print preserves a piece of old Austin for music fans, locals, and collectors.
